The Phoenix House

   Bed & Breakfast

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that The Phoenix House Inn will not be opening this season. I put off making this decision as long as I could, but the health and well-being of the community was at the heart of this decision. I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the most amazing people ever on Prince Edward Island....many of whom have become dear friends to me. When people say that "the people of PEI would give the shirt off of their back for you", there are no truer words. The community efforts and kindness of these islanders (those who grew up here and those who are 'Islanders by Choice' continue to amaze me. I would never want to jeopardize the well-being of them or their loved ones. Even if the bridge opens back up for summer travel, the looming threat of the increased number of Covid-19 cases in the US will be a continued risk for Canada, especially if travel from the US to PEI is allowed. I think it is in the best interest of the islanders for The Phoenix House to not accommodate travelers at this time. I hope that everyone understands and respects this difficult decision. Please join us next season (June 15, 2021) when we look forward to hopefully happier and healthier times, and accommodating those who want to visit this incredible island. In the meantime, please stay well and thank you for your continued support. ~Tara 💜

The Phoenix House got its name after a house fire destroyed the original structure. With the dream of having a dog-friendly B&B in mind, months of renovations went in to the original home prior to the fire. Just as things were wrapped up with the remodel, a fire  erupted in the early morning. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but it was a devastating loss, and one that made it difficult to want to move forward with the plans... but the dream did not go up in smoke. With the help of an amazing builder, we were able to capture the charm of the original structure, and

'The Phoenix  House Inn' rose from the ashes!

Located on 20 beautiful acres, the Phoenix House is a place where guests can have the peace of mind of vacationing with their dog, and avoid the exorbitant costs of boarding them, as well as the emotional stress of owner/pet separation. We have a large fenced-in play area, as well as acres of land to take walks. We are about 15 minutes away from a dog-friendly beach, and moments away from eateries where your dog can hang out on the outside decks with you during your meal. There is a wonderful family-owned pet store just up the road where they have everything you will need for your pooch too!  We only ask that you please do not bring aggressive dogs, and keep them with you on a leash unless they are in the play area.

The space was beautiful and spotlessly clean, and Tara was very welcoming of our dog, despite his large size. The large yard and fenced in play area were perfect for our needs. - Guest, Nicole

This is a spectacular place to stay, especially if you are traveling with a well-behaved pup. Tara and her business partner, Ned, thought of everything to make our visit comfortable and easy. They were also able to recommend a little known off-leash beach that was the highlight of my trip. The house is beautiful and the breakfast provisions were perfect. Kensington is right down the road and has everything you need, yet doesn’t feel touristy. The farm and orchard create the ideal setting to enjoy PEI. Look forward to going back! - Guest, Gracen

The room was exactly as advertised but was even better in person. A lot of extra touches that went to making our stay perfect!

Tara was a great host. The studio was very clean, quiet and had all the amenities for a relaxing stay. I would definitely stay again when I come back to the island. Thanks Tara.

My wife and I stayed here during the long weekend of New Brunswick! Tara was very easy to talk to and very helpful with regards to suggesting great restaurants to eat at! She was very thoughtful when it came to asking if we needed anything extra for example: needing anything special in the room as it was a surprise getaway for my wife’s birthday. Very prompt with answering any questions. The place was very clean, which is always a bonus. She had fresh muffins and cinnamon buns made(complimentary to add) along with other complimentary juices, water bottles, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit! Absolutely reccomend this place if your looking to stay somewhere central in PEI!!

By far the most amazing place I have ever stayed, not only is the house stunning but super clean and relaxing, Tara is by far the most amazing person and host ever, giving us great amenities and suggestions. We really felt at home and at ease staying with her, anything you need to know she’s your girl, I rate this place at a 100% for everything with good reason, definitely will be back to stay with Tara again.

Tara's place was fantastic, and she was a great host. We loved getting to know her and Ned. She really went out of her way to make us feel welcome. She gave us great advice on places to see and eat. The place was immaculate, super-clean, well done, and she had every thoughtful extra. They were especially kind to our five month old lab, and even welcomed him with a goodie bag and had a great place for him to run around in the yard and a screened in porch with dog toys. When we return to PEI, we're definitely staying with Tara and Ned again!
